West Ham United Women have made a strategic addition to their squad by signing 19-year-old defender Ria Bose on a permanent deal from Sporting CP.
The promising full-back has committed to a two-and-a-half-year contract running until 2028, signalling the club’s belief in her long-term potential rather than a temporary loan move.Bose, who began her youth career at Brighton & Hove Albion before progressing through Chelsea’s academy, moved to Sporting CP in September 2024 to begin her senior professional career abroad. Her move back to England marks her first club in the Women’s Super League.
Internationally, Bose has represented England at youth level, earning caps with the Under 16s, Under 17s and a regular role with the Under 19s, including appearances at the 2024 UEFA Women’s Under 19 Championship.
While she has yet to make her senior England debut, her youth experience has been highlighted as a key part of her development.
Head Coach Rita Guarino welcomed the defender to the Hammers, saying: “Ria is a player we’ve admired for some time — technically strong, tactically adaptable and hungry to learn. She fits the identity we want in this squad and brings England youth international experience that will help us both now and in the future.”
Bose also spoke on her move: “I’m really excited to join West Ham," she said. "This club has a clear vision and a supportive environment. I want to push myself every day, help the team improve and make an impact here in the WSL.”
The transfer continues West Ham’s active recruitment strategy this season, following a series of signings aimed at strengthening depth and competition across the squad as they seek to climb the Women’s Super League table.
