After a challenging Women’s Super League campaign, West Ham will be desperate to channel their energy into cup success. The Irons, under newly appointed head coach Rita Guarino, are still finding their feet as the Italian boss continues to stamp her identity on the squad following her December arrival.

For Newcastle, this is a chance to make a statement. Competing in WSL 2, the Magpies have steadily built a competitive squad featuring a mix of experienced campaigners and exciting young talent as they push for promotion back to the top flight.

West Ham will be expected to dominate possession and take the game to Newcastle. Guarino’s side will look to control midfield and exploit the width to unlock a stubborn Magpies defence.

Expect the Hammers to try and dictate tempo early, but they’ll need to be wary of a Newcastle team happy to defend resolutely and hit on the counter, or punish any lack of concentration from set pieces.
