Scottish international Andy Irving has left West Ham United after two-and-a-half years as a Hammer.

The 25-year-old has completed a move, for an undisclosed fee thought to be in the region of £1.5million, to Czech Republic outfit Sparta Prague - which is of course co-owned by West Ham United board member Daniel Kretinsky.

"Everyone at the club would like to thank Andy for his hard work, commitment and professionalism and wish him and his family all the best for the future," read the briefest of statements confirming Irving's departure on West Ham's website.

Meanwhile the transfer was welcomed rather more enthusiastically in the Czech capital. "The Edinburgh native arrives at Letná from West Ham, where he made 17 Premier League appearances," read an announcement by Sparta. "Welcome to the most successful Czech club, Andy!"

And Sparta Sporting Director Tomas Rosicky added: "We know Andy well from his time in the Austrian league, where he was very productive. He has been on our radar ever since.

"He is a left-footed, intelligent, hard-working and constructive midfielder with good vision, capable of changing the tempo and point of attack, and with a strong feel for combination play. At the same time, he is diligent in defence and consistently fulfils his defensive duties.

"His quick decision-making, movement, overall activity and ability to solve situations impressed us, and we are very happy that he will strengthen our midfield."

Everyone at KUMB wishes Andy the very best of luck with his new club.
