A first half blitz was enough to secure a third successive win in all competitions for Nuno Santo's Hammers, as they breezed past a lacklustre Sunderland in Stratford this lunchtime.
Crysencio Summerville, Jarrod Bowen (penalty) and Mateus Fernandes all registered before half time to given the Hammers a virtually unassailable lead at the interval. And even though the visitors grabbed a consolation effort late on, the game had already been won before half time - giving the Hammers three more vital points in their fight against the drop.
The victory places West Ham just two points behind Nottingham Forest, who face Brentford later today, five behind Leeds and just seven adrift of Tottenham - who West Ham beat in north London last weekend - in 14th place.
