Any plans Jarrod Bowen may harbour over a return north are likely to be scuppered before he even opens his front door, according to reports.
Since West Ham were relegated from the Premier League last month the West Ham skipper and hero of Prague has been linked with a series of clubs including Everton, Liverpool ands Newcastle United.However any desire the 29-year-old may have had regarding a move to Merseyside, Tyne or Wear or anywhere else north of Watford, for that matter, is likely to be quelled by his wife.
For according to "sources" close to the family, Ms Dyer has put her foot down and insisted that she - like her husband - would prefer to remain in London.
"It’s been one of the worst weeks of Dani and Jarrod’s lives," the unnamed source told Heatworld. "Dani is doing her best to try to make things better, but he’s absolutely devastated. She’s never seen him like this.
"Jarrod will be 30 this year and this was probably his last chance to go to a World Cup. Although he wants to stay at West Ham, he doesn’t know what the future holds.
"Dani isn’t like a lot of footballers' wives," continued the source. "She has her own commitments and can’t just pack up and follow him, but she doesn’t want to live apart from him with the kids.
"If Dani does Strictly, she’d ideally need to be close to London and will want Jarrod nearby to help out. But playing in the Premier League means a better salary and a better career. It’s one of the biggest tests in their marriage so far."
And unsurprisingly perhaps, there is plenty of opposition regarding a move away from West Ham from other members of Bowen's immediate family.
"The whole Dyer family want Jarrod to stay, so he’s feeling the pressure – but he needs to do what’s best for him," the source concluded. "He’s been linked with a move up north, something Dani isn’t very keen on.
"And [father] Danny will be devastated if he leaves West Ham, too, while a move up north would really twist the knife."
Bowen and his wife have two children of their own, three-year-old twins Summer and Star, while Dani also has a son - Santiago, who is five - from a previous relationship.
